Preamble

This privacy policy discloses the privacy practices for CentennialActivity.ca . This privacy policy applies solely to information collected by this Website. It will notify you of the following:  

1. What personally identifiable information is collected from you through the Website, how it is used, and with whom it may be shared.  
2. What choices are available to you regarding the use of your data.  
3. The security procedures in place to protect the misuse of your information.  

CentennialActivity.ca is operated by the Centre for Sport Policy Studies in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education at the University of Toronto. The use of “we” and “our” is used to indicate the Centre for Sport Policy Studies’ ownership of CentennialActivity. The use of “the Website” is used to indicate CentennialActivity.ca.  

The term “personally identifiable information” is used to refer to registered users’ name, email, and telephone number. The term “material” is used to refer to images, video, and/or text that is submitted by users through the CentennialActivity Website.

Registration and Consent

In order to submit material to the Website, a user must first complete the registration form. During registration a user is required to give their name and email address, and has the option of providing a telephone number. This information is used only to contact you, with your consent, to seek additional information about the material you have submitted to the Website. Your personally identifiable information will not be shared with any other party.

With your consent, we may contact you to request further clarification about the material (images, video, and text) you have provided. We will only contact you with your consent, which you can give when you submit material by checking the box that reads: “I agree to be contacted to clarify any information I submit, and to be contacted for future research about this activity.” You may opt out of any future contact from us at any time by requesting this via the email address or phone number given on the Website.

Security  

We take precautions to protect your personally identifiable information. Personally identifiable information submitted via CentennialActivity.ca (name, email address, and phone number) is protected both online and offline. Wherever we collect personally identifiable information it will be encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a closed lock icon at the bottom of your web browser, or looking for "https" at the beginning of the address of the web page.  

While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your personally identifiable information offline. Only researchers who need to contact you (for example, to request additional clarification about submitted material) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment that is consistent with FIPPA and University of Toronto’s Data Security Standards for Personally Identifiable Information.  

Material Collection, Use, and Sharing  

We are the sole owners of the material collected on this Website; however, all material published on the Website is licensed under a Creative Commons license (4.0 Attribution-NonCommercial). This means that material published on the Website may be reused, with attribution, for non-commercial purposes. We only have access to/collect material that you voluntarily give us via our online submission system, email, telephone, or other direct contact. This material will not be used for commercial purposes and will not be sold or rented to any person or entity.

Published Images and Video

All material posted to the Website are in accordance with criteria approved by the University of Toronto Health Sciences Research Ethics Board (Protocol Reference # 32871). These criteria involve the consent of individuals who recorded the material and the consent of individuals who are identifiable in the material and have a reasonable expectation of privacy. If an individual who took posted material or is identifiable in posted material decides that these should be removed from the Website for whatever reason, the material will be removed. Any concerns about issues of consent or privacy on this Website should be directed to the University of Toronto Research Oversight and Compliance Office – Human Research Ethics Program, at 416 946 3273.

Web Analytics (probably change this)

This site uses “Google Analytics” to collect information about how people find the Website and how they use it. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit this site, what pages they visit when they do so, and what other sites they used prior to coming to this site. We use the information from Google Analytics only to improve this site; the use of this tool does not allow us or Google Analytics to identify individuals. The information collected will not be sold or shared. The Google Analytics Terms of Service can be viewed here.

You can opt-out of Google Analytics activity by setting your browser to notify you when a cookie is sent, and block the Google Analytics cookie; please consult your browser's Help Menu for instructions. Google also offers a free Google Analytics opt-out tool for various Internet browsers.
